Environmental Policy

Purpose and Scope

The purpose of this policy statement is to set out the principles which Norton & Associates Ltd will apply generally to all aspects of its business activities with regard to Environmental Policy.

Legislation and Recognised Good Practice

In carrying out its Environmental Policy Norton & Associates Ltd will meet its obligations under the following legislation:-

Environmental Protection Act 1990
The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1988
The Countryside and Wildlife Act 1980

Norton & Associates Ltd will also comply with any Code of Practice that applies to an area of work.

Office

Generally

Any waste created by Norton & Associates Ltd will be recycled where appropriate.

Where possible envelopes and paper will be reused, prior to using new stationary.

New paper that is purchased shall contain a minimum of 75% recycled paper and where possible be free from dioxins and other chemicals that are likely to cause harm to the planet.

Only non-hazardous Biodegradable chemicals and paints will be used.

Geopathic and Electromagnetic Stress

Levels of Geopathic and Electromagnetic Stress will be assessed and where they represent a risk to health they shall be healed or their impact upon the body shall be reduced to a safe level. Where geomagnetic energies can not be reduced significantly employees shall be made aware of this.

Air Borne Toxins: Office Environment

Plants shall be kept in good order and in significant numbers to remove the following chemicals from the air:- Benzene Formaldehyde Trichloroethylene

Water fountains or fish tanks shall be employed to remove dust particles from the air.

Electricity

A renewable electricity supply will be established or the purchase of green electricity where possible.

Batteries will be rechargeable where possible.

Daylight florescent tubes shall be used in locations where natural daylight levels are poor.

Reports

As part of our policy to minimise the use of paper and ink, reports will be kept succinct and only relevant information will be included unless otherwise instructed.

Hard Copy

E-mail and Fax: will be sent, as a rule, hard copies will only be sent upon request.

Site

Impact on Wildlife

Each contract will be assessed before commencement with regards to the effects upon the environment and in particular any disturbance to Wildlife. Any concerns will be raised with the client before proceeding on site. Survey works that are detrimental to breeding birds will not be carried out until safe to do so.

Employees

Employees shall take all necessary precautions whilst on site to ensure that they do not put themselves in danger from any toxic substances or dangerous materials.

Norton & Associates Ltd will ensure that each employee will be given a copy of this statement.

Projects

We will endeavour to prepare schemes, and give management advice, which will enhance the ecological resource of the land we help to manage. This will be done by encouraging native species and traditional management practices that are appropriate to the sites.
